Farm Sheds

Acrylic on canvas board, w/ brush and palette knife, 2023 - Current

In early 2023 we moved to the regional town of Hamilton in south-west Victoria, where I spent twelve months working independently as a support worker. Throughout the year I struggled with imposter syndrome and feelings of stress and discomfort, made worse by my lack of communication about it. Through the discomfort though I learned a lot about personal growth and stepping outside of my comfort zone, resulting in a renewed confidence to try out new mediums in my art.
I tried acrylics using a palette knife and started on the Farm Shed series, inspired by the patchwork structures I’d see along the long highway drive from Hamilton to Warrnambool.
The series has evolved into an expression of the harsh and varied realities that the Australian landscape faces, from thunderstorms and floods to droughts and bushfires.
