Watercolours
I first experimented with watercolour and ink in August 2018, after actively avoiding them for years. The first thing I attempted was this super colourful representation of our solar system but it turned out so bad I never wanted to see it again.
The second thing I attempted was a gazelle springbok, though it ended up looking like one of those wall-mounted hunting trophies which wasn’t my intention at all.
Over the next few months I practiced using a collection of creative commons photos as my reference, building up what I would later call the Spirit Animal series.
I continued experimenting with different styles and subject matters while painting gifts for friends and family.
